My Notes: Sound and light responding to dancers in real time “Sal”
During the creation of Sál, we were deeply inspired by the opportunity to investigate new expressive mediums, such as exploring how light and sound could interact with each other and with the dancers’ presence on stage.
One of the directions we developed was a responsive sound system. Rather than prescribing fixed cues, we wanted to give dancers a tool they could engage with intuitively: each performer was linked to specific sound textures, derived from the original soundtrack. Their movements, their intensity and direction, modulate the density and quality of the sound in real time, transforming the soundtrack into a living element.
