My Notes: choreography cinematography and editing strategy from Tarantino
Quentin Tarantino talks about making Kll Bill “the Hong Kong way, not the American way,” embracing authentic martial arts filmmaking traditions. Working with legendary action choreographer Yuen Woo-ping, who crafted the iconic fight sequences for The Matrix and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Tarantino insisted on capturing the fluid, balletic violence that defines classic Hong Kong cinema. Stuntwoman Zoë Bell, who doubled for Uma Thurman, became integral to executing Woo-ping’s intricate choreography with precision and athleticism.
